A Taste Of Vitality
This natural sweetener is extracted from the pineapple-shaped core of the blue agave (a cactus-like plant native to
Mexico best known for its use in making tequila). A 93% fruit sugar content allows agave nectar to absorb slowly
into the body, decreasing the highs and lows associated with sugar intake. Also, because fruit sugars are 25%
sweeter than sugar, you use less. It has a very neutral taste.

Wireless Networks For Dummies 2004
A network is always at risk. Whether wired or wireless, there are many ways
that unauthorized access can occur. In your wired network, if you allow
casual physical access to your business premises, someone you do not know
can attach to your network and start stealing information. A simple example
is letting an unknown salesperson use an empty conference room without
supervision. Most businesses enable these rooms with network access, so it
is simply a matter of plugging into the wall socket and starting some hacking

Wireless Maximum Security 2006
Data AnalysisWhen data is transferred via the airwaves, it can be easily captured using programs downloaded from the Internet. This type of monitoring was expected, and is why WEP security was added to the 802.11 standard. Through the use of WEP, all data can be scrambled to the point where it becomes unreadable. Although WEP will not stop the wanton interception of data, it can stop the casual interpretation of the captured data. |

Wireless Java Developing With J2ME, 2nd Ed 2003
Overview
MIDP applications are built to run on many different devices without modification. This is particularly difficult in the area of the user interface because devices have screens of all sizes, in grayscale and in color. Furthermore, devices vary widely in their input capabilities, from numeric keypads to alphabetic keyboards, soft keys, and even touch screens. The minimum screen size mandated by MIDP is 96 × 54 pixels, with at least one bit of color depth. [1] As for input, MIDP is fairly openended: devices are expected to have some type of keyboard, or a touch screen, or possibly both.
Given the wide variety of devices that are compliant with MIDP, there are two ways to create applications that work well on all devices:

contrast, the latter is confined to cellular radio and mobility-enhanced bearers,

The circuit domain of UMTS R3 builds on the master/slave paradigm
[11] of legacy GSM, inherited from the PSTN/ISDN, with the MSC acting
as master and the mobile terminal acting as slave. The transport plane that
physically transports voice is separated from Signaling System #7 (SS7)-based
call control or signaling plane that transports signaling messages and ensures
advanced features to voice calls.

Wireless Hacks - 100 Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools 2003
Many people continue to use 802.11b, the protocol of the Wi-Fi revolution.
Throughout this book, I mainly discuss 802.11b (also known as Wi-Fi, but then, so is 802.11a). It is the de facto wireless networking standard of the last few years, and for good reason. It offers excellent range and respectable throughput. (While the radio can send frames at up to 11 Mbps, protocol overhead puts the data rate at 5 to 6 Mbps, which is about on par with 10baseT-wired Ethernet.) It operates using DSSS at 2.4 GHz, and automatically selects the best data rate (either 1, 2, 5.5 or 11 Mbps), depending on available signal strength. Its greatest advantage at this point is its ubiquity: millions of 802.11b devices have shipped, and the cost of client and access point gear is not only phenomenally low, but also ships embedded in many laptop and handheld devices. Since it can move data at rates much faster than the average Internet connection, it is widely regarded as "good enough" for general use.

Wireless Hacking Projects for Wi-Fi Enthusiasts 2004
Typically, this meant PCMCIA cards, USB client devices, or whatever the resident wanted us to
install on their computer. The problem with this method was that the moment we touched a resident’s
computer, we seemed to “own” that device. Inevitably, a problem would arise and even if that
problem had nothing to do with wireless, we would always get phone calls and e-mails asking for
help. From an end-user perspective, I can understand why this happens. One day a bunch of wireless
geeks come over to your house and install something new.The next day your printer stops working,
so naturally it must have been something caused by the new wireless card.
It would be great if we had the ability to service all the non-wireless technical support issues in
the neighborhoods we operate in. Unfortunately, given our limited time and resources, we found it
necessary to restrict our support services to maintaining the wireless infrastructure and leaving the
end-user technical support issues to third-party companies or relying upon “neighbor helping
neighbor” methods.

WarDriving - Drive, Detect, Defend - A Guide To Wireless Security 2004
Chapter 7: Mapping WarDrives Using StumbVerter
Introduction
You have gone for a WarDrive. You now have a set of logged access points with their coordinates and other relevant data, and you think, “How am I going to make some use of this? How will I be able to see patterns in the geographical distribution of access points?” Mapping your data sets may be the answer.
There are several ways to map data. StumbVerter is a tool that’s designed to take advantage of the automation capabilities of Microsoft MapPoint. MapPoint is commercially available mapping software that covers North America and Europe. StumbVerter processes data captured with NetStumbler and generates maps that you can easily view and manipulate. You can also access online mapping engines that create maps for you free of charge. In this chapter we discuss the process of installing, configuring, and using StumbVerter to map your WarDriving results as well as using the Delphi Geographic Logging Engine (DiGLE). By the end of the chapter, you will know how to create colorful and informative access point distribution maps.

The Secrets of Wireless Hacking 2004
Chapter 3. Putting the Gear Together: 802.11 Hardware
When reading other books somewhat related to wireless penetration testing or just simple wardriving, the suggested hardware choice is both limited and amusing. It creates the impression that only this particular laptop brand together with that specific PCMCIA card type are useful for these aims. In reality, much depends on the hardware chosen, but there are precise technical reasons for such selection that are never listed in these sources. These reasons include client card sensitivity in dBm, client card chipset, the presence of connector sockets for an external antenna, client card power emission and consumption level, laptop/PDA battery power life and compatibility with UNIX-like operational systems, and so forth. That said, practically any wireless client card and PCMCIA/CF/SD slot-containing mobile computer can be used for wireless hacking with some additional tweaking and different grades of efficiency. This is the main message of this chapter.

Chapter 5. CLDC Libraries
Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) and Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) provide a very rich set of Java class libraries for the development of enterprise applications for desktop computers and servers. Unfortunately, these libraries require tens of megabytes of memory to run and are therefore unsuitable for small devices with limited resources. In this chapter we introduce the class libraries supported by the Connected, Limited Device Configuration.

IP In Wireless Networks 2003
Traffic Channel Data Services
The basic idea in providing TCH data service is to provide a CS conduit for carrying data from the user through the GSM PLMN and vice versa. The conduits are composed of CS bearers in the network and the TCH over the air interface.
The data path establishment procedure is very similar to the voice path establishment. There is also an IWF with the MSC, which serves as a gateway between data signals in the GSM PLMN and other networks, such as PSTN (public switched telephone network) and PSPDN (public switched packet data network). With a TCH-Full rate (TCH/F), the maximum effective data rate possible is 9.6 Kbps. With a TCH-Half rate (TCH/H), the maximum data rate is 4.8 Kbps. The GSM PLMN also provides high-speed circuit switched data (HSCSD), which combines multiple TCH/Fs and can provide a maximum data rate of 56 Kbps.

Caution! Wireless Networking Preventing a Data Disaster 2004
Separating Hackers from Crackers
The term hacker was originally used to describe a person who was technically proficient with whatever systems he or she hacked and could write exceptional computer code. Some of the original hackers were members of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Tech Model Railroading Club (TMRC). In fact, the term hacker has been around longer than the personal computer or the Internet, for that matter.
At MIT, students traditionally use the word hack to describe the elaborate and often amazing pranks that they play on each other and the faculty. In their world, a hacker is someone who creates something ingenious and truly original.

Bulletproof Wireless Security - GSM, UMTS, 802.11, And Ad Hoc Security 2005
Cryptographic algorithms are broadly divided into two categories depending on the
type of data they expect as input. Block ciphers take blocks (usually 64 bits) of data
as an input, whereas stream ciphers operate on a bit (or a byte) at time. Given a key, a
block cipher always encrypts a given block of plaintext to the same ciphertext. On the
other hand, given a key, a stream cipher will encrypt a given bit (or byte) of plaintext
to a different ciphertext.
The building blocks of block ciphers are permutation and substitution. Let’s say we
are dealing with k-bit blocks; a substitution specifies, for each of the 2k possible values
of the input block, the k-bit output. So, basically we have a substitution table. Since
it is impractical to manage such tables for 64-bit blocks, substitution is done for 8-bit
blocks which are obtained by splitting up the input block. To specify a completely randomly
chosen substitution for k-bit blocks would take about k.2k bits. A permutation
specifies, for each of the k input bits, the output position to which it goes. To specify a
completely randomly chosen permutation of the k-bits would take about k. log k.

Building Wireless Community Networks 2nd ed 2003
As we saw in Chapter 2, there is an astounding variety of wireless networking equipment available on the consumer market today. While the champion technology of wireless community networks is still 802.11b, simply choosing equipment that is "Wi-Fi" compliant won't necessarily guarantee a successful network project.
While equipment features, capabilities, and prices tend to change drastically in a short time, the essential network functions that they perform are still very straightforward. Let's look at what your devices need to provide in order to fulfill your wireless networking dreams.

Broker, Managers and Controllers as illustrated in Figure 2. With this structure,
the QoS Broker can delegate separate tasks for controlling and media processing
and therefore provides a clear separation of tasks with different time constraints.
Of equal importance is the provision of exibility for controlling various non-
MASA entities (e.g. a Mobile-IP deamon or special network interface card
drivers, etc.) The MASA Controller allows for an eased integration of such entities
into the framework. The Managers are used to integrate these controllers and to
provide a standardized open interface for the Broker. This allows for much more
scalable and flexible solutions as would be possible with a monolithic structure.

802.11 Wireles Networks The Definitive Guide
To dive into a specific technology at this point is getting a bit ahead of the story, though. Wireless
networks share several important advantages, no matter how the protocols are designed, or even what
type of data they carry.
The most obvious advantage of wireless networking is mobility. Wireless network users can connect to
existing networks and are then allowed to roam freely. A mobile telephone user can drive miles in the
course of a single conversation because the phone connects the user through cell towers. Initially,
mobile telephony was expensive. Costs restricted its use to highly mobile professionals such as sales
managers and important executive decision makers who might need to be reached at a moment's notice
regardless of their location. Mobile telephony has proven to be a useful service, however, and now it is
relatively common in the United States and extremely common among Europeans.

802.11 wi-fi handbook, Chapter 9 Wireless Lans in the network
Spock famously started with, “Trust yourself, you know more than you think you do.”
The idea was to reassure concerned and even frightened first-time parents that they
should trust their intuition when raising their children. After all, parents had managed
to raise their children before instruction manuals and trained professionals existed.
Parents then and now draw upon their experiences, their intuition, and the advice of
other parents. With all that said, in some more challenging situations, parents look to
professionals for guidance and assistance. And indeed, as Dr. Spock has told you, they
buy and read books on the subject.

802.11 Security 2002
Wireless networking is revolutionizing the way people work and play. By
removing physical constraints commonly associated with high-speed
networking, individuals are able to use networks in ways never possible in
the past. Students can be connected to the Internet from anywhere on
campus. Family members can check email from anywhere in a house.
Neighbors can pool resources and share one high-speed Internet connection.
Over the past several years, the price of wireless networking equipment has
dropped significantly. Wireless NICs are nearing the price of their wired
counterparts. At the same time, performance has increased dramatically. In
1998, Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) topped out at 2Mb/s. In
2002, WLANs have reached speeds of 54Mb/s and higher.
Unfortunately, wireless networking is a double-edged sword. Wireless users
have many more opportunities in front of them, but those opportunities open
up the user to greater risk. The risk model of network security has been
firmly entrenched in the concept that the physical layer is at least somewhat
secure. With wireless networking, there is no physical security. The radio
waves that make wireless networking possible are also what make wireless
networking so dangerous. An attacker can be anywhere nearby listening to
all the traffic from your networkxxxmdashxxxin your yard, in the parking lot
across the street, or on the hill outside of town. By properly engineering and
using your wireless network, you can keep attackers at bay.

TCPIP Illustrated Volume 1
Link Layer 2.1 Introduction
From Figure 1.4 we see that the purpose of the link layer in the TCP/IP protocol suite is to send and receive (1) IP datagrams for the IP module, (2) ARP requests and replies for the ARP module, and (3) RARP requests and replies for the RARP module. TCP/IP supports many different link layers, depending on the type of networking hardware being used: Ethernet, token ring, FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface), RS-232 serial lines, and the like.
In this chapter we'll look at some of the details involved in the Ethernet link layer, two specialized link layers for serial interfaces (SLIP and PPP), and the loopback driver that's part of most implementations. Ethernet and SLIP are the link layers used for most of the examples in the book. We also talk about the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit), a characteristic of the link layer that we encounter numerous times in the remaining chapters. We also show some calculations of how to choose the MTU for a serial line.

Chapter 8. Configuring DNSCongratulations! You have installed TCP/IP in the kernel, configured the network interface, and configured routing. At this point, you have completed all of the configuration tasks required to run TCP/IP on a Unix system. While none of the remaining tasks is required for TCP/IP software to operate, they are necessary for making the network more friendly and useful. In the next two chapters, we look at how to configure basic TCP/IP network services. Perhaps the most important of these is name service. |

TCP IP Illustrated, Volume 2 The Implementation 1995
In the IP model, it is the network interfaces on a system (a host or a router) that are assigned addresses, not the system itself. In the case of a system with multiple interfaces, the system is multihomed and has more than one IP address. A router is, by definition, multihomed. As we'll see, this architectural feature has several subtle ramifications.

Rules—or protocols and standards—are important to ensure compatibility
between different kinds of things. As more and more hardware and software vendors
began joining the technology explosion, there was no guarantee that any of
their products would be able to work with one another. A system had to be put
in place so that hardware and software consumers would not get burned by buying
incompatible systems.

use today, I have chosen to use examples pertaining to their systems. The
examples are by no means exclusive to either Cisco or Microsoft. In almost all
cases, you can take the examples and apply them to any vendor’s hardware or

this line, you might also notice several analysis tools mentioned or used in the
examples. The type of tool is not typically important, just as long as it provides
the functionality needed or described.

Running IPv6 2006
going to claim its place under the sun isn’t easily answered. Some people say that if the protocol
was going to succeed, it would have done so by now. That doesn’t explain the incredible
amount of activity surrounding IPv6 that has only increased in the past years, though. Vendors
that had adopted a wait-and-see attitude before are now implementing the protocol into their
products. The adoption of IPv6 in the Internet community at large seems to be on the rise as
well, but not yet to the degree that IPv6 is becoming even close to mainstream, except maybe
in Japan and Korea.
The way things are going now, it looks like IPv6 isn’t going to run out of steam on its own
any time soon. Given enough time, it should fairly naturally ease into wider deployment. How
wide? Hard to say. IPv6 could quite possibly end up in a similar situation to that of the metric
system in the U.S.: it’s not something the general population knows or cares about, but certain
groups, such as scientists, doctors, and engineers, would be lost without it. On the other hand,
all the non-IP network protocols that are mentioned later in this chapter were very much in
use 10 to 15 years ago, but IPv4 has replaced them all. So we can’t rule out that IPv4 in turn will
be replaced by IPv6 over the course of the next 10 to 15 years.

One of the most frequently used statements in ECMAScript (and indeed, in many languages), is the if
statement. The if statement has the following syntax:
if (condition) statement1 else statement2
ECMAScript converts it to a Boolean for you. If the condition evaluates to true, statement1 is executed;
if the condition evaluates to false, statement2 is executed. Each of the statements can be either a single

which often required developers to write very complex and highly interdependent code.
A minor change to any part of the code could spell disaster for the entire application.
Debugging that type of application was a terribly painful and time-consuming task that
often resulted in the need to completely rebuild large pieces of code.
that procedural programming wouldn’t cut it. Object-oriented programming was born as
an attempt to solve these very problems. Although it certainly isn’t the be-all and end-all
of successful programming, OOP does give developers a great tool for handling any
kind of application development.

Microsoft Windows Scripting Self-Paced Learning Guide 2004
however, you need to perform repetitive operations. Even the most casual observer
knows that network administration involves many tasks performed over and over
again. As Yogi Berra once said, “It’s déjà vu all over again.”
How can you harness the power of VBScript to relieve some of the banality of day-today
network administration on Microsoft Windows Server 2003? At least four constructs
are ideal for the task:

IPSec - The New Security Standard For The Internet, Intranets, And Virtual Private Networks, 2nd Ed 2003
IP Packets have no inherent security. It is relatively easy to forge the addresses of IP packets, modify the contents of IP packets, replay old packets, and inspect the contents of IP packets in transit. Therefore, there is no guarantee that IP datagrams received are (1) from the claimed sender (the source address in the IP header); (2) that they contain the original data that the sender placed in them; or (3) that the original data was not inspected by a third party while the packet was being sent from source to destination. IPSec is a method of protecting IP datagrams. This protection takes the form of data origin authentication, connectionless data integrity authentication, and data content confidentiality.

iPod & iTunes - The Missing Manual, 4th Edition 2006
An iPod is many things to many people, but most people think of it as a pocket-size music player that holds 100 songs, 15,000 songs, or more, depending on the model. The iPod dynasty now ranges from a screenless 512-megabyte version that can hold plenty of songs for your gym routine and never skip a beat, to a 60-gigabyte multimedia jukebox that spins out an entire TV season of The Office, as well as color photos along with colorful music.
Like the original Sony Walkman, which revolutionized the personal listening experience when it was introduced in 1979, Apple's announcement of the original 5-gigabyte iPod in the fall of 2001 caught the music world's ear. "With iPod, listening to music will never be the same again," intoned Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. But even out of the Hyperbolic Chamber, the iPod was different enough to get attention. People noticed it, and more importantly, bought it. By the end of 2005, Apple had sold more than 41 million of them. The iPod was the single bestselling music player on the market, the dominant player; for the first time in modern history, Apple got to feel like Microsoft.

IP In Wireless Networks 2003
As voice and data continue to converge, the Internet is becoming the focal point of attention and is taking on the role of the one single global network providing access to information as well as different types of services. But the Internet is not about to replace the existing voice networks, such as the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and other data networks, such as the ATM and frame relay networks, that are deployed on a global scale as well. The one thing that the Internet has yet to achieve is the reliability and security of the PSTN. But it is definitely on its way to achieving that factor of reliability and security. The Internet in its first generation has been mostly connected to fixed and wired end hosts. But as the world becomes increasingly wireless and people are more mobile and need constant connectivity, the Internet as we know it today will change. The Internet will grow in areas that make information access ubiquitous from any place on the earth.

Home Networking for Dummies 3rd Ed 2005
is not complicated at all. Start with the first computer, and go through
the process one step at a time. After you finish setting up that first computer,
you’ll see how logical and simple the tasks are.
In fact, anyone who knows how to turn on a computer and use the keyboard
and mouse can create a network in an amazingly short amount of time. Many
people who installed their own home networks found it so easy and satisfying
that they helped neighbors, friends, and relatives. Some have gone on to
neighborhood fame and fortune as part-time consultants to other households
who want home networks. They never give away the secret that all of this is
extremely easy to do.

Data Networks IP and the Internet Protocols Design and Operation 2003
email address. And many modern companies have encompassed ebusiness.
They have prestigious Internet ‘domain names’ (advertised with modern lower case
company names) and run Worldwide Web (www) sites for advertising and ordertaking.
What has stirred this revolution? The Internet. But when, why and how did
data networking and interworking start? And how did the Internet evolve? Where
will it lead? And what does all that frightful jargon mean? (What are the acronyms
and the protocols?). In this chapter we shall find out. We shall talk about the emergence
of computer networking, the Worldwide Web (www), about ISPs (Internet
service providers) and about where the Internet started—in the US Defense Department
during the 1970s. We discuss the significance of the Internet Protocol (IP)
today, and where it will lead. And most important of all—we start ‘unravelling’
the jargon.

A Professionals Guide To Data Communication In A TCPIP World 2004
electronic mail between hosts. SMTP provides message transfer. It does not manage
mailboxes or mail systems.
SMTP provides reliable, efficient processes for the transfer of electronic mail. It
transfers messages between clients and servers and between servers. Communication
is initiated by the user’s mail system, establishing a duplex connection to an
SMTP server. When the channel is established, the client informs the SMTP receiver
that it wishes to send mail. The client issues one or more commands that identify the
recipient(s) of the forthcoming message. The SMTP server establishes a duplex connection
to the final destination. The client notifies the server of its intention to send
mail and proceeds to send the message data. If the mail transfer is successful, the
server issues a receipt and the client closes the channel.

Networking For Dummies 7 Ed 2004
Do you often copy a spreadsheet file to a floppy disk and give it to the person in the next office so that he or she can look at it? Are you frustrated because you can’t use the fancy laser printer that’s on the financial secretary’s computer? Do you wait in line to use the computer that has the customer database? You need a network!
